Tummel is the path breaking klezmer band that with ever-present energy takes your heart on a bungee jump. Known as a formidable live band, the Tumlers has managed to turn many a crowd into a roaring, shaking, ferocious mega party. With the motto "klezmer for restless souls", the band re-invents the traditional Jewish music and turns it into something completely their own. Our first album, "OY!", was released worldwide on the first of November 2001, and has recieved lots of very enthusiastic reviews. We have also toured extensively both in Sweden and abroad.
“This klezmer septet does a great job… Their fun mix of jazz and Middle Eastern influences recalls the Klezmatics, and their innovative use of guitar and bouzouki brings out the Turkish flavour inherent in some of the melodies.” – SR, Sing Out!
Tummel, one of Scandinavia's leading klezmer bands, is half based in Malmö, Sweden and half in Copenhagen, Denmark. Tummel plays "klezmer for restles souls", taking the genre into a new age, and their music has been called "punk klezmer" as well as "reggae on speed". The band has toured all over Sweden, Denmark and Estonia, and has represented Sweden at the World exhibition in Hannover. With their debut Cd, "OY!", Tummel takes a new step forward. The CD was nominated to a "World CD of the year" award in Denmark.
